Belgian Rally Master Cup crowns fastest rider in 2022 Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship

Belgian Rally Master Cup crowns fastest rider in 2022 Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship

Which driver will best combine experience and speed?

Talent behind the wheel knows no age. But any rally driver over 50 knows that he is no longer 20 years old. On the other hand, experience is an essential factor in rallying. And thanks to their experience, experienced rally drivers often remain very competitive.

Young drivers who are taking their first steps in rallying and who still have little experience are highlighted thanks to the Junior Belgian Rally Championship, the ideal championship to make a name for yourself and show your talent. At the other end of the spectrum, there has been nothing until now to draw attention to the performance of older drivers in the midst of all the young guns. The Belgian Rally Master Cup remedies this.

All drivers who are over 50 years of age or who will turn 50 in 2022, and who participate in the Kroon-Oil Belgian Rally Championship (holding an RACB licence or a licence issued by a foreign ASN and registered in the BRC), will be able to score points in the Belgian Rally Master Cup, regardless of their mount.

At each of the 10 events of the Kroon-Oil BRC, points for the Belgian Rally Master Cup will be awarded to the first 10 drivers in the final rally classification who meet the participation criteria, according to the classic scale (25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1). All results will be taken into account.

For years, the public has been impressed by the enthusiasm with which drivers over sixty years of age such as Patrick Snijers and Paul Lietaer challenge youngsters in their Porsches or Opel Manta. From now on they will also be able to use their speed and experience against other drivers who only want to prove that 50 is just a number. A challenge perhaps for riders like Bruno Thiry, Freddy Loix, Timothy Van Parijs, Guino Kenis, Armand Fumal, Xavier Bouche, Henri Schmelcher, Jimmy D'hondt, Bert Coene, Bernard Munster, Stefaan Prinzie, Francis Lejeune or even, why not, a certain... Jos Verstappen.
